Vulnerability is Healing

Have you ever had to be vulnerable?

I had to be this morning; and I have to be every six months at the dentist where I have to lay back and have my new mouth be visible to others.

It’s a humbling experience for others to see my battle wounds from cancer and hear me speak without my obturator.

After I left I found myself welling up with tears of gratitude because of the kindness my dentist and the hygienist extend me every time I am there. They treat me as though nothing is wrong with me. They don’t need to. But they choose to. And for that I am so grateful.

I share this today because so many of us have invisible wounds others may not see, yet we are afraid to be vulnerable and let others in to see them. Whether it is the response of others we fear or we think it’s weak to be vulnerable, we choose to hide our wounds from others.

Yes, it’s hard for me to be vulnerable. Yet to be fully known, my flaws and all, and still have people who are willing to come beside me, accepting me as I am, and extend loving kindness my way has been part of my healing.

My hope is you too will choose to be vulnerable to those who will be a part of your healing.

I invite you to join me to...

Pause. Breathe. Pray.

May we not be ashamed of the wounds we have in life, visible or invisible. Instead may we be willing to be vulnerable so we may move closer to healing. Also, may we choose to be the ones who are willing to come beside others, accepting them for who they are, flaws and all, and extend loving kindness their way.

With love and hope,

Shawn

Listen to the Quiet Nudge

candance payne smurfette 2018.jpg

This weekend I had the privilege of emceeing an event for Candace Payne. It was a joyful and powerful experience hearing her speak truth into people’s hearts.

Before meeting her, I read her books to get to know her story better. In one chapter of#LaughItUp she shared about a Smurfette pillow she had lost as a kid and how she’d love to have one again someday. After reading that request I felt like God whispered to my heart, “make her a pillow.”

What? I don’t even know which pillow it is. I am sure many others have given her one by now.

Which God replied, “just make her the pillow."

So I found myself online ordering fabric and imperfectly sewing her the pillow with my daughter.

When I gifted this to Candace I was nervous because I wasn’t sure how the imperfect pillow would be received, as I assumed she already had a number of them.

Yet when she opened is, she was overcome with joy. As this was the first Smurfette pillow she had received, and it happened to be the exact one😳💝🙏

To have been able to bring joy to the woman who has brought joy to over 200+ million people in her Chewbacca mask video is humbling.

I share this with you today because maybe God is speaking to your heart to say or do something and it makes no sense. You, like me, justify to God why we shouldn’t do it.

I invite you to join me to...

Pause. Breathe. Pray.

May we say yes to God even when it doesn’t make sense & we feel like we may make a fool of ourselves. May we be a part of spreading His love & joy to others as it may be exactly what that person is needing.

With love and hope,
Shawn

If you’ve read my book #LaughItUp, you know I’ve been longing to find a Smurfette pillow that holds nostalgia on a level I can’t even explain. Well, only three days after Laugh It Up turned 1 year old? This incredible woman (with a mighty powerful story of her own) honored me by finding the material & sewing it herself as a gift to me. Y’all. I just puddled in tears as I look back and post this pic. I don’t deserve y’all. You are seriously the best follower-friends in the WORLD! A Wonderful Day

birthday 40.jpg

Yesterday was a wonderful day...

But today is too.

May we not wait to celebrate life on our birthdays. May we celebrate each day we are given.

I know some days we feel weighed down and other days we feel like we are floating on a cloud.

How can we celebrate both?

I invite you to join me to...

Pause. Breathe. Pray.

May we see that each day we have is a gift from God. May we celebrate the view from the clouds but also use that time to prep our hearts for the plateaus we all stand on and the valleys we all go through. And in the valleys may we seek, give thanks for, and be open to the lessons we are learning there so we may live more wisely on the plateaus and cloud moments in life.

Every day is a gift🎁 May we celebrate others lives, and our own, by choosing to live out love today, no matter whether we are on a cloud, plateau or in the valley.💕🙏💕

With love and hope,
Shawn

I'm 40!

40 bday table.jpg

🎉Today I get to be 40🎉 Woohoo!!! What a gift💝

I wanted to invite you to celebrate with me!

How?

I believe in giving we receive so I am asking you to celebrate with me by purposefully living out love today.

Give a smile, lend a hand, a listening ear. Write that text, make that call, pause to listen to the person beside you. The gift you give doesn’t have to involve money. Whatever you do, let it be from your heart. Give your time, your energy and if you choose to, use money; make a donation or buy a little something for someone you know, or don’t know😊 As much as the thought of you purposefully living out love today makes my heart smile, my hope is that it would make your heart, and the other person’s heart, smile too.

Feel free to share with me how you choose to live out love in a PM or if you post about it, tag me in your post @shawnelizabethgeorge or use#liveoutlove

Let’s see if together we can get at least 40 hearts smiling today by purposefully living out love for God💕😁💝

Thanks ahead of time for celebrating with me💞🙏🎉

With love and hope,
Shawn

Be a Vessel of Love

2018 camp of the woods mug.jpg

My cup is full. This weekend I have been poured into by so many (for my upcoming birthday this week🤫). From a quick get away with friends, dinner last night with my parents, sisters and their husbands, to a family hike today, I am filled to the brim💝

I am so full of love and joy all I want to do is love on others.

I share this with you because some of you may be feeling full too yet others of you may be feeling empty (please know I’ve been there too).

No matter where you fall on that spectrum today, I invite you to join me to...

Pause. Breathe. Pray.

If you are feeling full like I am currently, may we take this love and joy and pour it towards others through our words and actions so others can experience the love of God through us. Yet if you are feeling empty, I hope that someone pours love your way, and you receive it, even if it’s in the simplest form such as a smile.

And for all of us, may we always remember there is a source that will fill us with love, anytime, anywhere, and that is God. May we allow His unfailing, abundant love to be poured into our hearts so we may be full, lacking nothing. And with that fullness may we be a vessel of love, pouring into others hearts throughout our days💞

With love and hope,
Shawn

P.S. and if you’re wondering how to get that love from God, when I started my journey to live from the inside out, I simply asked God if he was there and went from there😊🙏💕

Wisdom in Nature

3 leafs.jpg

No leaf has ever said to another, “I am better than you” nor has one tried to harm another.

No, they grow together, beside one another, and they fall together. And our world is more beautiful because of their differences. Even after they fall, they provide richness to our soil for more goodness to grow in the future.

May we see the wisdom nature provides us, and put it into practice ourselves.

With love and hope,
Shawn

Have a "Fort Nite"

2018 fort night with Matty.jpg

Last night I had a “fort nite”😉 with my youngest and slept under my dining room table.

Why?

Because loving someone else isn’t always comfortable. You show up and you do things you don’t want to do because they want to do it. You let go of your desires to share in theirs.

Yes, I woke up a number of times throughout the night and my body is a bit achy this morning. But I will get more sleep tonight, the aches will heal but this memory will last forever.

I share this with you in case sometime someone you love asks you to do something that doesn’t interest you. I invite you to join me to...

Pause. Breathe. Pray.

And choose to say yes on the outside even if on the inside your answer is no. Lay down your comfort and desires to show up for them. A simple choice like this will speak volumes into our loved ones hearts. They will know we are there for them, and only them, and it will be a memory captured together for a lifetime.

With love and hope,
Shawn

Send Love

2018 fall pumpkin kindness rock.jpg

On my morning walk with Georgia I saw these kindness rocks someone scattered along the trail, as they do every season💝

I share this today because I want to remind you that there are people sending love and kindness to others in this world.

I hope you’ll join me and...

Pause. Breathe. Pray.

May we give thanks for the people who choose to send love to others. And may we too choose today to be someone who will live out love towards others💕🙏💕

With love and hope,
Shawn
