What’s Clogging Your Life and Keeping You From Living Fully?

The other day I was cleaning out the drain in one of our showers. Then this morning, our washing machine clogged up, and I had to clean that drain as well. As I pulled out clump after clump of gunk, it struck me how much buildup had accumulated, quietly and gradually over time, to the point it finally began to prevent the shower and washer from working the way they were meant to.

This made me pause and wonder, what is clogging my life and inhibiting me from functioning optimally?

There are thoughts, habits, patterns, and choices in my life that may not be harmful in obvious ways, but over time they are inhibiting me from living fully. I want to take an honest, careful look at what they are so that I can make the changes that are needed.

I share this with you in case you want to join me and ask yourself the question as well, “What is clogging my life and keeping me from living more fully as God intends?”

If so, I invite you to join me to…

pause. breathe. pray.

May we make time to sit with ourselves with love, compassion and grace. May we take an honest look at what no longer serves a good purpose in our lives, from thoughts we have to choices we make. And if we have trouble seeing this, let’s reach out to a trusted friend to help us.

Once we are aware, then we can choose to take the steps, no matter how small, to clear out what isn’t beneficial to create room for what brings us life.

Let’s make this a priority so that at the end of our days, we look back with gratitude for how we chose to live, and not with regret.

With love and hope,
Shawn

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus… - Hebrews 12:1
